He reported on the process of training an AI model in various persuasion techniques, which he called “awakening hypnosis.” This form of suggestion does not involve a trance state, but instead uses words to persistently influence people.
Adams interrupted the chatbot’s responses to introduce new techniques or refine existing ones. ChatGPT now remembers information from previous sessions, allowing it to store “weapon-grade persuasion” techniques. The neural network was able to master about six hypnosis and persuasion techniques before testing, the hypnosis expert noted.
Adams’ goal was to have the AI hypnotize him into a state of “feeling good,” and he says it succeeded. He declined to share details of the experiment.
Certified hypnotherapist Jack Van Landingham said he trained his chatbot to hypnotize using techniques Milton Erickson and got “quite impressive results.”
As a hypnotherapist and teacher of hypnotherapists, I’ve experimented with it similarly. After training it in Ericksonian hypnotic language patterns, NLP’s Milton Model, and the use of metaphor, it output some fairly impressive results.
