Scott Eastwood: “I tell love in the comedy I want you back”

Scott Eastwood takes the “kind of few words” concept to a pro level. He doses every single answer with calm and studied slowness and, however much Zoom can already put some distance, one always gets the impression that on his part it is still too little. Clint’s son temporarily changes course in his career to devote himself – after a long series of action movies – to a romantic interlude. He tells it in this face to face interview with Vanity Fair on the occasion of the release of I want you backthe Valentine’s Day movie from 11 February on Amazon Prime Video.

In the story, the 35-year-old Californian plays Noah, a personal trainer who decides to ditch the girl he’s been dating for a year and a half, Emma (Jenny Slate), to hang out with pastry chef Ginny (Clark Backo). This sends the ex into a rage who decides to fight back by allying with a stranger, Peter (Charlie Day), in turn dumped by his girlfriend Anne (Gina Rodriguez of Jane The Virgin), after six years of relationship. The two go to great lengths to make their exes leave with their new partners, convinced that they are their soul mates. From this arises an infinite series of misunderstandings. Scott Eastwood, who has also just landed on the platform with The fury of a manhe had a lot of fun getting involved.

In your opinion, is the party of lovers still the perfect opportunity for a date for two at the cinema?
«For me this film is the perfect film regardless of Valentine’s Day, because after two years of stress it is a project capable of bringing lightness to everyone. Personally, I experienced the pandemic as an opportunity to slow down, which is why I didn’t dedicate myself to many projects, but this was a great adventure ».

How far would he go to win back the woman he loves if he were to lose her?
«In love and in war everything is lawful. And, even if I don’t follow a precise manual, I think it’s always worth trying to regain what has been lost ».

Do you also believe in the idea of soul mates?
“The world would be sadder if I didn’t believe it, it’s a romantic idea that I like, even if I’m convinced that any kind of love is fine. Life always knows how to amaze ».

Did he have more fun or embarrassment in the intimate scenes?
“We played with the idea of the extravagance of romantic relationships and I enjoyed myself, even in the nude scenes.”

No insecurity in the relationship with his body?
“Are you kidding? I have them all right, like everyone else. Indeed, those who say the opposite are lying. And I also have some in relationships: sometimes you feel powerless about what they have in store for you and this makes you human. “

She is the son of art and carries a surname full of pressures. How would you like to be remembered, however, in the personal sphere?
“I would like those who love me to remember me as a funny guy, who tries to make others laugh and always tries to make them comfortable. They fill our heads with bitches, like fame, but it’s a farce to me. I am interested in finding something to love and at which I am good and pursue it. Society idealizes success, but it’s not healthy, especially for kids who seem to be chasing popularity only on social media. To them and to everyone I repeat that it does not bring happiness at all, on the contrary ».

What is happiness for you?
“Family, friends and challenges with oneself”.

What challenge are you currently engaging in?
«In the one in the kitchen: the pandemic is making me a better cook. I need it because I prefer to eat at home instead of going to a restaurant. The whole process relaxes me, from looking for new recipes to putting them into practice ».

Earlier she said that the nude didn’t make her uncomfortable, what would make her anxious instead?
“To sing: I don’t think I would be able to do it even if my life were in the way.”
