In Israel, in the Judean Desert, fragments of biblical scrolls dating back 2,000 years have been found. The skeleton, which probably belonged to a 6-12 year old child, was wrapped in cloth and mummified. He was lying in a fetal position. “It is obvious that whoever buried the child wrapped it up and placed the edges of the cloth under it, just like a parent covers the child with a blanket. A small bundle of cloth was clutched in the child’s hands,” said Hananya Khizmi, chief of staff for the Department of Archeology of the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria.
The cave in which the artifacts were discovered is known as the “Cave of Terror”. It is located about 80 meters below the top of the cliff, and you can get into it only with the help of climbing equipment.
