Protesters protested against hunger at the sculpture of the “golden bull”, inaugurated this Tuesday (16) outside the headquarters of the Stock Exchange (B3), on XV de Novembro Street, in downtown São Paulo.
The group put up anti-hunger posters on the replica of the “bull of Wall Street”, which also had the side graffiti with a streak of black paint.
Shortly after the posters were put up, urban cleaning workers in the city removed the papers and cleaned the sculpture.
On social networks, the group of protesters released a statement stating that the sculpture is a symbol of “hunger, misery and the overexploitation of work”.
“What for them symbolizes the strength of the financial market, for us is a symbol of hunger, misery and the overexploitation of work. Just as the Bull on Wall Street is the target of workers who resist, the Golden Bull will also be here”, says the note.
This Tuesday (16), B3 informed that the statue is a partnership with economist Pablo Spyer and plastic artist and architect Rafael Brancatelli.
According to the Stock Exchange, the sculpture represents “the optimism of the market” – and is also a “homage to the strength and courage of the Brazilian, which helps the market to happen and our country to develop”.
