Search for man missing after rain enters third day in Rio

Rio de Janeiro firefighters continue their search for Tancredo Augusto de Oliveira, a dancer from the Mangueira samba school who was swept away by a flood last Thursday (30).

According to the Fire Department, searches take place uninterruptedly in Guanabara Bay, with the use of lifeguards and boats.

“The Rio Fire Department is in solidarity and is in permanent contact with the victim’s relatives”, says an excerpt from the note sent to the CNN .

Oliveira, 38 years old, disappeared after being dragged by the force of water into the Joana River, in the Maracanã neighborhood.

According to the Rio Operations Center, it was the highest volume of rain in 1 hour since December 2022.

Still on Thursday night, two people died in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense. A man, victim of an electrical discharge and another boy dragged by the flood.

Forecast for Rio de Janeiro

For this Sunday (2), the forecast in Rio de Janeiro is for clouds and rain during the morning, with the possibility of light rain at any time of the day.

Because of the bomb cyclone, which formed in the ocean, the sea should be rough, with waves above 3 meters. Temperatures decrease, with a predicted maximum of 27°C in the capital.
