The social network X (formerly Twitter) blocked searches for “Taylor Swift” after fake nudes of the singer, created by artificial intelligence, circulated on social media. The images began to go viral on the internet on Thursday (25), generating outrage among fans, who tagged “protect Taylor” (protect Taylor, in Portuguese), in X’s Trending Topics.
The platform's objective is to try to reduce the circulation of false images of Taylor. When searching for the singer's name in the “Explore” section of the social network, the message appears: “An error has occurred. Try reloading the page.”

In a statement, X's head of commercial operations, Joe Benarroch, stated that “this is a temporary action and done out of an abundance of caution, as we prioritize safety in this matter.”
Understand the case of Taylor Swift's fake nudes
With the popularization of the use of artificial intelligence, it has become a frequent challenge to combat the manipulation of people's voices, faces or bodies in a realistic way – a practice called “Deepfake “.
In the case of Taylor Swift, the singer was another victim of “Deepnudes “, a variation to designate creating fake nudes of a person . Recently, in Brazil, actress Ísis Valverde went through the same situation. Anonymous people can also be victims of crime, as in the case of 20 students at a school in Rio de Janeiro who had “Deepnudes” created with their faces.
With the repercussion of Swift's case, the White House spoke out on Friday (26), stating that the situation “is alarming”. During her speech, Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary, reinforced that social media companies have an important role to play in enforcing their own rules to prevent the spread of this type of misinformation.
