Unlike last year, the demand for travel in July had a significant increase, according to travel agencies. The company Decolar notes that there was a 51% higher demand in April compared to March this year, but the trend is that this index will continue to grow.
Decolar’s Director of Flights, Daniela Araújo, explains that there are a set of factors that influenced people to look for new destinations, such as the increase in the dollar, in tickets and the flexibility of restrictions against Covid-19.
“The market price increased a little, but the search did not decrease because there is a repressed demand. We had a high dollar period, international fares contributed to people choosing to travel through Brazil, but we also see international destinations with prices retracting in relation to 2021. There are destinations for all profiles. We haven’t traveled for almost two years, so people adapt to the moment”, emphasizes the director.
Daniela also analyzes the high demand for national destinations. According to her, tourism in the country has always been strong, but the market presents a new type of search for itineraries.
“We have always had an important volume of research for the national one. Tourism in Brazil has always been strong. Clearly he was much more focused on wild destinations, but what we see now is an expanding range of domestic tourism possibilities,” he says.
Regarding national destinations, the North American company KAYAK, whose main product is the travel search engine, noted that São Paulo, Fortaleza, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Recife, Maceió, Natal, Brasília and Porto Seguro were the places that entered the top ten of 2022 when compared to 2019. The average price of these destinations varies between R$882 and R$1,716.

In international terms, Lisbon, Buenos Aires and Santiago lead the search, followed by Paris, Orlando, Miami, London, Porto, New York and Rome. According to KAYAK, the lowest average price was marked by Buenos Aires, Argentina, which reached R$2,023. The most expensive was from the city of London, with R$7,980.
Travel agency CVC also noticed a rise in the sector. The company claims that this demand grew 54% compared to 2021. According to CVC’s executive sales manager, Viviane Piovarcsik, the reason is pent-up demand.
“A lot of people have had plans postponed, so the holidays are coming to materialize that. We have a situation now with the war in Ukraine that is not isolated. Everything influences airfare, but the sector is optimistic about the resumption. We bet a lot on promotions and payment flexibility, which attracts the consumer”, analyzes the executive manager.
The CVC survey shows that national destinations concentrate most of the demand for the next vacations. According to the company, the most sought after destinations are in the Northeast region, such as Natal, Maceió, Porto Seguro, Salvador and Recife. The most searched international ones are: Orlando, Bariloche, Cancun, Paris and Santiago.
CVC says confirmed bookings in the first quarter of 2022 grew 110.5% compared to last year. In addition, the company reveals that, in the same period, net revenue rose 76.5% and CVC Corp boarded 1.9 million passengers – an increase of 15.2% compared to the first quarter of 2021.
