The search for missing people in Petrópolis after the city was hit by heavy rains earlier this week and the federal government’s assistance to the affected areas are among the highlights of the afternoon of February 18, 2022.

After four days of searching in Petrópolis, the Fire Department believes it is still possible to rescue living victims from the mud. During the dawn of this Friday (18), sirens sounded again in Morro da Oficina, one of the places most devastated by the storm.

The death toll now exceeds 120 and the forecast is for more rain in the region throughout the day.

Bolsonaro in Petropolis

President Jair Bolsonaro visited Petrópolis this Friday (18) and made a helicopter flight over the city. The federal government informed that it will immediately transfer R$ 2.33 million to assist in Civil Defense operations at the site.
