Seat sales increase by 10.3% in 2021

Seat closed in 2021 with 470,500 sales, an increase of 10.3% compared to 2020 (426,600). The impact of the lack of semiconductors made 2021 a very difficult year for the industry as a whole. However, the company’s sales increased thanks to CUPRA and the demand for electric models.

In 2021, sales of the Spanish company electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles quadrupled, from 14,700 to 60,600 cars. CUPRA tripled its sales to 79,300 cars, up 189.4% with Formentor spearheading. 41% of CUPRA sales in the last 12 months were electrified vehicles.

Germany is Seat’s leading market with 104,100 sales, 5% less than in 2020 (109,500). It is followed by Spain with 81,800 cars, with an 11.5% increase from the previous year (73,300) and Great Britain, with 50,700, 11.2% more than in 2020 (45,600). The list of the top 5 countries in sales for the company is completed by France (31,200) and Italy (27,600), which recorded growth of 14.0% and 24.6% respectively.

As for the CUPRA Born, the brand’s first 100% electric car, 3,300 units have been delivered so far.
