The Seattle Sounders beat Pumas UMAN 3-0 at home this Wednesday (4) and won the Concacaf Champions League, a continental tournament made up of clubs from North and Central America.
The Sounders are the first US team to win the tournament since 2000 and ended a 16-year hegemony of Mexican clubs. With the achievement, the MLS, the US football league, will have its first representative in the history of the Club World Cup.
After a 2-2 tie in the first game of the final, Sounders counted on the strength of their fans for the decisive match. 68,741 fans attended the Lumen FIeld and broke the attendance record in the history of Concachampions.
The Seattle team opened the scoring at the end of the first half, with Peruvian striker Raúl RuidÃaz. Little threatened by Pumas, the North American club expanded in the 35th minute of the second half, also with RuidÃaz.
Eight minutes later, the Uruguayan Nicolás Lodeiro, with stints at Botafogo and Corinthians, scored the third for the Sounders and gave the final numbers to the scoreboard.
