Sebastian Stan Says Trump Is “Smarter” Than People Admit

The actor Sebastian Stan 42, who plays the young man Donald Trump in the movie “The Apprentice “, by the filmmaker Ali Abbasi 40, said the former US president “is a lot smarter than people want to admit because he repeats things consistently and has created a brand.”

In an interview with Variety, Stan shared his thoughts on the 78-year-old tycoon after conducting extensive research on the Republican while preparing for his role in the film. The actor has watched videos of Trump repeatedly and his phone is full of clips of the former head of state, who is running for the White House this year against Democrat Kamala Harris.

The film portrays Trump from his time as an aspiring real estate developer to his rise as a New York celebrity, and opens in Brazil on October 17.

“I had 130 videos of his body language on my phone,” the actor said. “And 562 videos that I selected with photos from different periods, from the 70s to today, so I could capture his speech patterns and try to improvise like him.”

Variety reported that Sebastian improvised entire scenes in the film at the request of director Ali Abbasi, drawing on his extensive research into Trump’s complex business dealings. “Ali would come in on the second take and say, ‘Why don’t you talk a little bit about taxes and how you don’t want to pay them?’ Every night I would go home and try to not only prepare for the next day, but also where Ali was going to take the scene.”
