Sebastian Stan is set to play the young Donald Trump in the next film titled “The Apprentice”, alongside Maria Bakalova and Jeremy Strong, as confirmed by CNN last Wednesday (29) through representatives of the film.
Variety also reports that Bakalova will appear as the late Ivana Trump, a businesswoman who partnered with then-husband Donald Trump on some of his most high-profile real estate projects. The two divorced in 1992 and Ivana Trump died last year.
Strong will play Roy Cohn, according to the outlet, a famous lawyer who Trump considered a mentor early in his career.
According to a synopsis sent to CNN by the film’s executive producer, Amy Baer, the feature film directed by Ali Abbasi “is an exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and deceit.”
“It’s a mentor-protégé story that traces the origins of an American dynasty. Filled with great characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers”, said the synopsis.
Stan received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations last year for his performance as Motley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy.” He also stars as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films “Captain America” and “Avengers,” and in the Disney+ miniseries “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
Bakalova received an Oscar nomination for her performance in 2020’s “Borat Subsequent MovieFilm,” and Strong is best known for her Emmy-winning role as Kendall Roy in the hit drama “Succession.”
The release date for “The Apprentice” has not yet been confirmed, but film representatives confirmed to CNN that the film began to be photographed.
