SEC again postpones consideration of applications for spot Ethereum-ETF

On March 19, 2024, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) delayed its decision on the Ethereum Spot ETF from Ark 21Shares And Hashdex.

The new deadline for consideration of these applications is set for May 24 and May 30, 2024, respectively. These dates will be the last time the SEC can decide whether to approve the products.

“The Commission considers it appropriate to set a longer period for issuing an order approving or disapproving a proposed rule change to allow it sufficient time to consider the proposed rule change and the issues involved,” the regulator said in a statement.

Note that Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart said that the SEC will not approve applications for Ethereum-ETF in May 2024.

“My cautiously optimistic view of the Ethereum ETF has changed compared to recent months. Now we believe that they will end up [заявки] will be rejected on May 23. The SEC has not interacted with issuers regarding the specifics of Ethereum. The complete opposite of a Bitcoin ETF,” Seyffart wrote.
