A woman who was injured by the collapse of a building in Paris on June 21 after a strong explosion died during last night, according to sources.
The body of another woman was found on June 27 in the ruins of this building in the center of the capital, which collapsed after a strong and subsequent fire. The causes of the explosion remain unclear.
In total, about 50 people were injured in this incident and two of them are still hospitalized with serious injuries, another source with knowledge of the matter said. The building that collapsed, which had been classified as a historical monumenthoused the American Academy of Paris, a private school specializing in fashion.
From Monday, investigations have been assigned to an investigator, who will investigate in particular alleged acts of manslaughter and breach of duty and will have to determine the causes of the disaster.
The first witnesses who spoke to the investigators they spoke of a “smell of gas”.
About 60 families remain without access to their homes and are being housed in workhouses, relatives’ homes or a hotel, the city council announced on Wednesday.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced on June 26 an aid of 2 million euros to support the professionals and residents affected, assuring that “plenty of light will be shed on the circumstances of this explosion.”
