Judge Jacinta Silva dos Santos, holder of the District of Atalaia do Norte, in Amazonas, determined, this Wednesday (15), the fulfillment of the temporary detention, for 30 days, of Oseney da Costa de Oliveira, investigated for the disappearance of the indigenist. Bruno Araújo Pereira and the English journalist Dom Phillips.
Oseney was arrested last Tuesday (14) and went through a custody hearing today, which “was related to compliance with the temporary arrest decreed by this Court, at the request of the police authority”, according to Judge Jacinta Silva dos Santos.
The period of 30 days of temporary detention, which can be extended for another 30 days, takes effect from the date of execution of the warrant. The case is being processed under secrecy of justice.
The other investigated, Amarildo Oliveira da Costa, known as Pelado, confessed to having participated in the murder of the duo. The information was passed on by Federal Police sources to the CNN.
To the federal police, Pelado said, however, that another person was responsible for shooting Pereira and Phillips. The suspect also said that his participation was only when he helped to bury the two. To the agents, Pelado also told that the bodies were quartered and incinerated.
