Second package of humanitarian aid from Cyprus for the Ukrainian people

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the second mission of humanitarian aid from Cyprus to Ukraine is expected to depart, through the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union.

The second package of humanitarian aid includes: (1) pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, (2) civil protection materials (such as sleeping bags, blankets, etc.), (3) personal hygiene items, prepared by the Cyprus Red Cross with the contribution of companies, ( 4) food, which was offered by citizens, organized groups and companies.

The humanitarian aid collection campaign at the more than 40 centers operating throughout Cyprus was completed this week. The material collected at the centers is transported by the National Guard to the Port of Limassol, in order to follow the shipping procedures.

It is noted that the whole process takes place through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which records and informs about the needs that exist, both in Ukraine and in the neighboring countries that receive Ukrainian refugees and coordinates the efforts of the Member States of the Union to provide humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people. It is clarified that the special bank account is still in operation, to which those who wish can contribute to the support of the Ukrainian people.
