A new Microsoft application called Windows Subsystem for Android has appeared in the Microsoft Store, which the Redmond giant has not said anything about. Recently it became known that Windows 11 will not be able to run applications for Android at the time of launch in October this year, but work in this direction continues.
Windows Subsystem for Android is free to download, however after installing and opening in Windows 11, it displays a blank window. The minimum system requirements are for Windows 10 version 22000.0 or higher and Xbox One. Supported architectures include ARM64 and x64, and the minimum RAM is 8GB. The recommended specs are the same except for the RAM requirements, which have been increased to 16 GB.
The description on the application page in the Microsoft Store also contains a warning that this application is intended for testing purposes. Users of the application should not take screenshots of the screen, nor should they be generalized about the theme of the application.
Microsoft General Manager of Marketing Aaron Woodman said the company is currently working with Amazon and Intel to bring Android apps to Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store. He promised that the long-awaited functionality will debut in Insider Preview builds in the coming months.
Microsoft previously announced that the public launch of Windows 11 is scheduled for October 5.
