In view of the increase in the number of cases of Covid-19, the Secretary of Education of the State of São Paulo (Seduc-SP) issued, this Friday (18), a note recommending the use of masks in “situations of greater risk of virus transmission”.
The statement cites closed environments, public transport and places with a large concentration of people.
In an interview with CNN on the last 14th, the Secretary of Health of São Paulo, Jean Gorinchteyn, confirmed that the state has shown an increase in the number of positive cases of the disease since the 24th of October.
According to the secretary, the percentage in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) reached 64%, while in the wards the increase was 50%. Despite this, Gorinchteyn pointed out that although these are “quite significant percentage numbers, the absolute number in relation to cases was much smaller”.
Regarding the specific recommendations for schools, Seduc reported that the units of the state network follow health protocols, such as “constant hand hygiene, cleaning and ventilation of environments, identification and removal of cases and monitoring of their contacts”.
In cases of contamination, the secretariat advises that schools notify the Health Surveillance. In relation to suspected cases, of students and teachers, the recommendation is that the individual comply with five-day isolation, according to medical advice.
