The city of São Paulo will start the vaccination campaign for children aged 5 to 11 years against Covid-19 on Monday (17).

The information was confirmed by the municipal secretary of Health Edson Aparecido to CNN.

“We still don’t know how many vaccines should arrive [à capital], but whatever comes, we will use and vaccinate from Monday”, he said.

The first pediatric doses of vaccines against Covid-19 for immunization of children aged 5 to 11 years arrived in Brazil this Thursday (13). The batch of 1.2 million doses of Pfizer will be distributed to states and the Federal District in the coming days, in proportion to the number of children in each state.

According to the Ministry of Health, this is the first shipment of the 4.3 million pediatric doses of the pharmaceutical that should arrive in the country in January. The first flight landed at Viracopos Airport, in Campinas (SP).

After landing, the doses are sent to the Distribution Center of the Ministry of Health in Guarulhos (SP), where they are submitted to quality and temperature control processes.

In all, the Ministry of Health has already ordered 20 million doses of immunizers. All are expected to be delivered in the first quarter. In addition to the January doses, 7.3 million should be delivered in February and another 8.4 million in March.
