A section of Avenida Engenheiro Gentil Tavares, in Aracaju (SE), sank due to the heavy rains that hit the capital of Sergipe last Saturday (11). The city council informed the CNN this Tuesday (14) working to restore the site.
According to the administration, the force of rainwater in the canal caused the gabion wall to sink, which caused landfill material to escape from the surface next to the canal and the collapse of part of the structure.
Work on the site began last Sunday (12), through the Municipal Works and Urbanization Company.
“The work to restore the canal wall is underway. The services include cleaning the area, shoring up the structure and replacing the gabion wall. The forecast is that all services will be completed within fifteen days”, informed the City of Aracaju, in a note.
