Security camera footage shows the moment the roof of a print shop collapses. Three employees appear in the CCTV video. They tried to remove the material so that it wouldn’t be lost when the ground gave way. The three and one more employee, who was in another sector of the company, not affected by the collapse, were saved.
Stamper Fernando Augusto Fernandes Junior says that his leg was trapped during the accident, but he had only minor injuries. “It was a miracle what happened. Everyone who sees the footage believes that we were not saved,” he said.
The incident took place on February 15, during a strong storm that hit Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. The water began to enter the printing shop, which is located at Chácara Flora, ten minutes before the collapse.
Almost ten days later, the owner of the company, Raquel Vieira da Silva, assesses the damage caused by the rain. “The damage is incalculable. I lost everything: machinery, raw materials, stock […] We made a crowdfunding online to try to raise some money to start over. Employees depend on me,” explained Raquel.
