Security guards for the deputy chief of the largest militia in the west zone are arrested in Rio

A joint operation by the Federal Police and the Military Police of Rio this Friday (27) arrested two men responsible for the security of the deputy chief of the largest militia in the west of Rio, active in the neighborhoods of Sepetiba and Nova Sepetiba.

The man took office after the death of Matheus da Silva Rezende, known as Faustão, during a Civil Police operation on Monday (23). The episode triggered a series of attacks that ended with 35 buses set on fire, as well as four trucks, two BRT stations and a train.

The suspects were found in a residence in the Antares community, in Santa Cruz, west of Rio, where a pistol and a radio communicator were also seized.

According to the PF, the agents were in another location in the same region, used by the deputy head of the militia, where 101 5.56 caliber ammunition, six pistol magazines, four 5.56 caliber rifle magazines were seized, in addition to R$ 22 thousand in species, nine golden cords, two golden bracelets, a luxury watch, a pair of handcuffs, two cell phones, two accounting notebooks and a rifle sling.

The arrests occurred after analyzing seized materials and measures carried out in Operation Dinastia, which was launched by the PF and the Public Ministry of Rio in August last year.

At the time, 23 temporary arrest warrants were issued against suspected members of the largest militia in Rio de Janeiro. Those investigated are accused of committing the crimes of criminal organization, firearms and ammunition trafficking, extortion and corruption.

The prisoners were taken to the Regional Superintendency of the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro for standard procedures and will then be sent to the prison system, where they will remain at the disposal of the Justice Department.

This Friday’s action was carried out by federal police officers assigned to the Drug Suppression Police Station and the Sensitive Investigations and Criminal Factions Group of the PF, with military police officers from the 8th Military Judiciary Police Station of PMERJ.

During a Civil Police action on Thursday (26), the head of the militia who operates in Pedra de Guaratiba, also in the west zone, was shot. Marcelo de Luna Silva, 34 years old, is known as Bokinha and would be one of the trusted men of Luís Antônio da Silva Braga, known as Zinho, the number one of the largest militia in Rio and Faustão’s uncle.

In addition to Bokinha, another militia member was injured during the operation. Both are in custody.
