Every day, especially every Friday, music platforms are flooded with new releases that quickly climb the music charts and become global hits.

Just this Friday (4), Coldplay, Finneas O’Connell and Victoria Monét showed the world new albums full of songs, which should add to hits from names like Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter. The four are the voices of the songs that have been dominating the most listened to songs lists around the world on Spotify.

Despite this, the most listened to playlist on the audio streaming platform still includes old hits, some of them released 10 years ago, which have endured and remain highly rated in global taste. This is the case with songs released by The Neighborhood, Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift and Linkin Park.

“Sweater Weather” — The Neighborhood

The song occupies 14th place in Spotify’s world rankings and accumulated almost 3.2 million plays in the last 24 hours recorded by the platform. This is the main success of the band The Neighborhood and was released in 2012 as the second single from the North American band’s debut album.

The group went on hiatus in 2022 and accumulated other hits such as “Daddy Issues” and “RIP 2 My Youth”.

“I Wanna Be Yours” — Arctic Monkeys

In 19th position, with almost 3 million plays, comes “I Wanna Be Yours”. The song is part of the album “AM” by the band Arctic Monkeys, but was not even released as a single. The song is an adaptation of a poem released by John Cooper Clarke on the album “Zip Style Method” and features vocals from Alex Turner, lead singer of the British band in 2013.

“See You Again” — Tyler, The Creator and Kali Uchis

The 33rd most listened to song in the world on Spotify is was released as the fourth single from the album “Flower Boy”, by Tyler, The Creator, in 2017. The song was originally written by the rapper for Zayn Malik, ex-One Direction, but won the world in a collaboration between the North American and singer Kali Uchis.

“See You Again” went viral on TikTok and returned to the spotlight in 2023.

“Cruel Summer” — Taylor Swift

In 37th place, with 2.4 million reproductions, comes “Cruel Summer”, by Taylor Swift. Released in 2019, the song summarizes the synth pop trend followed by the singer from the album “Lover” onwards. It was brought to success by the American singer’s own fans, who made Taylor send the song to the radio and release the song as a single.

“Numb” — Linkin Park

There is still room for “Numb”, by Linkin Park, to occupy 46th place in the ranking with its almost 2.3 million plays. The song, considered alongside “In The End” one of the North American band’s main hits, grew in the charts after the announcement of the group’s return with a new vocalist: Emily Armstrong.

“Numb” was the third single from “Meteora”, Linkin Park’s second album, won a version with Jay-Z and earned the band the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2006 Grammy Awards.
