The ceremony of The opening of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place on Friday (26) along the course of the Seine River in Paris. There are no confirmed names yet, but there is the expectation that great figures of world pop music will perform during the event.
Fans of names like the American Lady Gaga and the Canadian Celine Dion They hope to see their divas performing at the event and are fueled by rumors reverberating on international websites such as TMZ, which stated that the two will sing “La Vie En Rose” together.
If confirmed, the performance would be the continuation of a legacy of great artists who have performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics, as Céline herself did in 1996, in Atlanta, United States. Other names such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Freddie Mercury have already performed at such events, as well as Brazilians Anitta, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.

Anitta, Caetano and Gil
Anitta, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil joined forces in a trio that mixed the past and future of Brazilian music to sing “Isso Aqui, O Que É?”, by Ary Barroso, during the opening of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. In a mini samba school parade, the three were accompanied by the drummers and dancers of the Rio de Janeiro groups, as well as wings that simulated the traditional carnival procession.
Celine Dion
Expected to perform at the opening of Paris 2024, Céline Dion was at the opening of the 1996 Olympics, which took place in the North American city of Atlanta. The Canadian sang “The Power Of The Dream”, produced by Babyface and David Foster exclusively for that event. The two worked together on the soundtrack for “The Bodyguard”.
Spice Girls
The closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games brought about the seemingly impossible: a Spice Girls reunion. The greatest representatives of British pop music, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham performed “Wanna Be” and “Spice Up Your Life” at the London Olympic Stadium.
Jessie J and Queen
The closing of London 2012 also featured a performance by the band Queen, who welcomed fellow British band Jessie J to sing the classic “We Will Rock You”.
Paul McCartney
The opening ceremony of the London Olympics was no slouch and featured Paul McCartney singing the Beatles’ classic “Hey Jude” at the end of the event.
Bjork
Icelandic singer Björk also left her mark on Olympic history and sang “Oceania”, from her album “Medúlla”, at the opening of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Kylie Minogue
The Sydney Olympics, held in 2000, featured a homegrown talent. Pop star Kylie Minogue sang “Dancing Queen”, a classic by ABBA, at the closing ceremony of the first and only Olympics in Oceania.
Stevie Wonder
The Atlanta Games also had another great moment in store. American singer Stevie Wonder, winner of 25 Grammy Awards, performed with his inseparable piano during the closing ceremony of the 1996 Olympics. The song chosen was “Imagine” by John Lennon.
Lionel Richie
Another big name in American music to perform at an Olympics held on American soil was Lionel Richie, who sang “All Night Long (All Night)”, from the album “Can’t Slow Down”, at the closing ceremony of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
