The orthopedic doctors executed in the early hours of this Thursday (5) were shot by a group of criminals while they were at a beach kiosk in Barra da Tijuca, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Marcos de Andrade Corsato, Perseu Ribeiro Almeida and Diego Ralf de Souza Bomfim — who was the brother of federal deputy Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP) — died at the scene. A fourth doctor is admitted.
At least 30 shots were fired at the victims. The motivations for the crime have not yet been clarified.
The group was in Rio de Janeiro to participate in the 6th International Congress of Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery, an international event with support from the Brazilian Association of Medicine and Surgery of the Ankle and Foot, an entity to which the doctors were part.

Diego Bomfim
Diego Ralf de Souza Bonfim He was the brother of federal deputy Sâmia Bonfim (PSOL-SP) and specialized in bone reconstruction at the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology (IOT) of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP). He was one of three who did not resist the gunshots and died at the scene.
Marcos Corsato
Milestones by Andrade Corsato He was an assistant physician in the Ankle and Foot group at IOT at FMUSP. He completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in orthopedics and traumatology at USP and also died at the scene.
Perseus Almeida
Perseu Ribeiro Almeida He graduated in medicine from the Faculty of Technology and Sciences (FTC) of Salvador, completed a residency in orthopedics and traumatology at COT and specialized in foot and ankle surgery at IOT at FMUSP. Perseus also did not resist the shots.
