Actress Renata Sorrah, 78, opined about the new version of the soap opera “Vale Tudo” and praised Paolla Oliveira’s choice to play Heleninha Roitman, a role that marked her career in the original newsletter in 1988.
Participating in the Conversation with Bial program, the veteran recalled a meeting she had with Paolla behind the scenes of one of her pieces, before the debut of TV Globo remake.
“Paolla came to watch my play, and I said, ‘You’ll make it beautiful.’ I have a very big admiration for Paolla, for her positions, the person she is. And as an actress: how she is studious, how serious she is. And is doing very well,” he said.
In the chat, Renata explained how was her preparation to bring to life the character, a plastic artist who fights the dependence of alcohol throughout the plot.
“It was a lot of study, because I don’t drink. I drink very little. I don’t remember already taking a fuck. But I went to AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) sessions; there is no better organization than AA. It works for everything. You are belonging to something.
The star added that the new adaptation of the soap opera should not be compared to the original, as the historical context has changed, which directly influences the narrative.
“One thing is a soap opera that was done 36 years ago, in a difficult time in Brazil, when people said: ‘Who leaves last erases the light.’ Difficult government, a difficult time. Now, 36 years later, if they have won several things. So, it’s something else. The actors are not comparing, that’s great. But sometimes, social networks are compared, it’s boring.
