Air quality
Air quality reached alarming conditions this Friday (13) in capitals of different Brazilian regions.
Around 11:30 am, the CNN consulted the Air Quality Index (AQI), the largest free platform of information on air conditions around the world.
The data produced by IQAir is used by the world press, organizations such as Greenpeace and even the United Nations (UN).
In the IQAir classification, numerical indexes are used to determine air quality in real time in cities. Understand:
- 0 to 50 – Good
- 51 to 100 – Moderate
- 101 to 150 – Unhealthy for sensitive groups (e.g., people with chronic respiratory diseases)
- 151 to 200 – Unhealthy for all audiences
- 201 to 300 – Very Unhealthy
- from 301 – Dangerous
The city of Porto Velho, in Rondônia, is the most polluted capital this morning, with air classified as “very unhealthy” in the parameters listed above.
Florianópolis, Porto Alegre, Campo Grande, Cuiabá and Rio Branco have air quality considered “unhealthy”. In São Paulo, the air is not considered healthy for sensitive audiences.
