See the health status of firefighters affected during firefighting in DF

Two members of the Military Fire Department of the Federal District (CBMDF) who worked directly to fight the fire in the Brasília National Park are being monitored by the medical team at the Asa Norte Regional Hospital (Hran), which is a reference for burns in the Federal District.

The most serious case was that of military man Raimundo Nonato da Rocha. According to Lieutenant Colonel Rangel of the CBMDF, during the firefighting, the wind changed direction and caught the military team off guard.

The soldier tried to run, but ended up being hit. He was rescued by the Fire Department’s Rescue Helicopter and suffered first and second degree burns on his legs and arms. The soldier received initial treatment for his burns at HRAN.

Raimundo was discharged on the same day, but must return to the hospital to monitor the possible progression of the injuries and even the need for debridement of the wounds, a medical procedure that consists of removing dead or infected tissue.

Military officer Elias Ferreira Sabiá Junior arrived at the Asa Norte hospital suffering from dehydration and intoxication. He presented symptoms of headaches, nausea and malaise. According to the medical report, the soldier received oxygen therapy combined with hydroelectrolytic replacement, a process to replace water and mineral salts lost due to dehydration, through peripheral venous access.

According to the corporation, the two soldiers are away from their duties and will only return after medical clearance.
