See the history of the clashes of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil

In the draw with the largest number of Serie A clubs in the history of the Copa do Brasil, it was expected that there would be duels between giants as early as the round of 16. Of the 16 classified, 14 are in the first division. The other two, Bahia and Cruzeiro, are used to the first tier of Brazilian football.

The draw for this year’s edition, held this Tuesday (7th) at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), in Rio de Janeiro, provided four regional classics, in addition to a Flamengo x Atlético Mineiro and other clashes that promise. See the duels:

Corinthians x Santos

Corinthians and Santos will face each other for the second time in the history of the competition. Atletico MG vs Flamengo

A great classic of Brazilian football, especially in recent years, since we are talking about the last two Brazilian champions. In the history of the Copa do Brasil, rivals have already faced each other in two editions. The first, in the quarterfinals, in 2006, gave Flamengo, in the campaign for the second championship. In the first game, they won 4-1 at Maracanã, with goals from Renato Abreu (twice) and Obina. On the way back, a goalless draw at Mineirão.
