The reason is dangerously low temperatures projected for the nation’s capital, Washington, DC, on Monday (20).
The information was given first-hand by sources with direct knowledge of the preparation of the ceremony at CNN and confirmed by the Republican, who published on social media that he ordered the inauguration speech, oath and other rituals of the ceremony to be made in the Capitol Rotunda, the seat of the American Congress.
He also noted that he will go to Capital One Arena for the presidential parade after the oath and speech.

The last presidential inauguration in the United States to be held indoors was that of Ronald Reagan’s second term, on January 21, 1985, also due to the cold.
The outside temperature at noon that day was -13°C. The morning minimum was -20 °C, and the daytime maximum was -8 °C. Thermal sensations during the afternoon were in the range of -23 °C to -28 °C.
Reagan took the oath of office inside the Capitol rotunda. The inauguration parade was canceled on that occasion.
