Images released by the Fire Department show what the inside of Shopping 25 in Brás, in the Central region of São Paulo, looked like, which caught fire this Wednesday morning (30).
The inside of the building was completely destroyed . Firefighters report that they are still working to put out the aftermath of the fire, which has not yet been 100% extinguished and It’s been going on for over 30 hours.
A video shows the doors, structures and materials destroyed inside the establishment. Much of the building’s roof and walls also gave way to the high temperatures of the flames.

The military acts to ensure that there are no new outbreaks that could cause a reignition, and to ensure everyone’s safety.
The building has more than 18 thousand m² and, according to the Fire Department spokesman, Captain Maycon Cristo, the fire reached almost the entire building.

The Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo (MPSP) opened an investigation to investigate the causes and responsibilities for the fire.
The 6th Housing and Urban Planning Prosecutor, Moacir Tonani Junior, mentions the need to determine whether the property was suitable and had the documentation up to date to operate.
Shopping 25 has had its Fire Department Inspection Report (AVCB) expired since August. The certificate guarantees that the establishment follows the regulations of fire safety.
The fire
A large fire hit a shopping mall in Brás, central São Paulo, this Wednesday morning (30).
According to the Fire Department, a team was called at around 6:44 am, to Rua Barão de Ladário. In total, 17 vehicles were taken to the scene to fight the flames.
The incident left three victims injured, according to São Paulo city hall. Two of them were taken to the Tatuapé municipal hospital, in the east of the city, and remain under observation. The third was treated at AMA Pari, but has already been discharged. No one is at risk of dying.
This is the second fire to occur in the region in less than a week. Last Sunday (27), a fire broke out on the top floor of a commercial building on Rua Doutor João Alves de Lima.
According to Fire Department spokesman Maycon Cristo, the fire could cause the building to collapse. “We fought the fire at the edges so that it is confined. Our biggest concern is that the fire does not spread,” he said.
He reported that almost the entire building was hit and that the fire possibly consumed all the stores. According to SP Civil Defensearound 200 small stores caught fire.
THE CNN also found that the company that manages the shopping mall, Maxim Administração e Participações LTDA, was founded by Law Kin Chong, considered one of the biggest smugglers in the country.
In a statement, Shopping 25 Brás reported that the fire was controlled and the damage was only material. Read the note below in full.
“The building has a Safety Certificate issued by Contru and had all its safety and fire-fighting equipment in full working order at the time of the incident. The shopping center maintains a brigade of civil firefighters who work in the enterprise throughout its operation. Part of the affected property has a valid AVCB in force until 2027 and another part is in the process of being renewed.
We regret what happened, we will do everything we can to resume operations as quickly as possible.”
