See what US intelligence data suggests about the explosion at a hospital in Gaza

Data National Security Council of the United States point out that the missile that hit a hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip last Tuesday (17), leaving hundreds dead, according to Palestinian authorities, was not fired by Israel, but that, as the Israelis accuse, it was the failure of an Islamic Jihad missile.

The US analysis does not suggest that the attack was carried out from the air, as it would have been if it had been fired from Israel, because of the distance.

Furthermore, the images cited by the Council would show that the missile did not leave territories in the region occupied by Israel.

US National Security Council made its own assessment of the attack in the north of the Gaza Strip

Another situation that leads the US to believe that the missile was not an Israeli attack were conversations between members of the radical Islamic group Hamas, in intercepted recordings, in which the agents attribute the blame for the attack to Islamic Jihad, another extremist group and considered an ally of Hamas.

On Wednesday (18), US President Joe Biden made two to three public statements stating that the attack on the hospital was not carried out by Israel, which Americans treat as an ally.

Biden was in Israel on Wednesday in a strong show of support for Israelis. On the same day, at the United Nations (UN) Security Council, the USA vetoed a peace resolution proposed by Brazil for the body to declare. The text condemned violence, but did not mention Israel’s right to self-defense.

Despite US data and statements by President Biden, Palestinian authorities blame Israel for the attack. In turn, the Israelis deny responsibility and accuse Islamic Jihad, which also denies having fired the shot.

A CNN was unable to independently verify the cause of the hospital explosion.
