See what’s open and closed in São Paulo on the city’s anniversary holiday

The anniversary of the city of São Paulo is celebrated on Wednesday (25). Due to the municipal holiday, part of the public services should operate normally and another part will be closed.

The municipal vehicle rotation will be suspended for cars and heavy vehicles on Wednesday. Traffic will also be released on exclusive bus lanes.

The health area will maintain vaccination in Outpatient Medical Assistance (AMAs) and Integrated Basic Health Units (UBSs). While in education, the Unified Educational Centers (CEUs) must operate from 8am to 6pm.

Most parks, museums and other cultural activities will remain open and some will have special programming for the holiday.

Health

Will be open during the holiday:

  • Ambulatory Medical Assistance (AMAs): open from 7 am to 7 pm;
  • AMAs/Basic Health Units (UBSs) Integrated: open from 7 am to 7 pm;
  • Municipal Hospitals (HMs);
  • Municipal emergency rooms (PSMs);
  • Emergency Care Units (UPAs);
  • Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps) IV
  • Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) 192;
  • Toxicological Emergency Laboratory (LET);
  • Regulatory Urgency and Emergency Complex (Crue);
  • Poison Control Center (CCI);
  • State hospitals maintain normal operation for urgent and emergency care.

For internal demands, the 24-hour Day Hospitals, the Psychosocial Care Centers (Caps) III and the Coordination of Health and Protection of Domestic Animals (Cosap) will work. The Zoonosis Surveillance Division (DVZ) and the Epidemiological Surveillance Division (DVE) will be on duty.

State hospitals maintain normal operation for urgent and emergency care, both in emergency rooms and in hospitalization sectors and surgical centers. Donation stations at Pró-Sangue Clínicas, Osasco, Barueri and Stella Maris will be open from 8am to 4pm. However, the Dante Pazzanese and Mandaqui units will be closed.

Specialty Medical Outpatient Clinics (AMEs) located in the city of São Paulo, the Reference Center for the Elderly (CRI Norte) and the Paulista Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology (IPGG), in the East Zone of the Capital, will not work this holiday.

The Pharmacies of Specialized Medicines (FME) and the units of Farmácia Dose Certa, belonging to the municipality of São Paulo, will not work on Wednesday.

Traffic

The Municipal Vehicle Rotation will be suspended, both for cars and for heavy vehicles.

The other existing restrictions in the city will be released: Maximum Restriction Zone for Truck Circulation (ZMRC) and the Maximum Charter Restriction Zone (ZMRF). Traffic will also be released on exclusive bus lanes.

The paid rotary parking service on the public road (Zona Azul) will operate according to existing signage.

Public transportation

Lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver of the Metro must operate with a holiday fleet during normal opening hours, between 4:40 am and midnight.

Metro lines 4-Yellow and 5-Lilac, operated by ViaQuatro and ViaMobilidade, will serve passengers with a fleet similar to that of a Saturday.

The lines operated by CPTM and ViaMobilidade (8-Diamante and 9-Esmeralda) will serve passengers with intervals similar to those on Saturday.

All intercity lines managed by EMTU that are destined for the capital will operate on a Saturday timetable. On the other hand, the lines to São Paulo that do not run on Saturdays will operate with the timetable for working days.

Service at sales points in bus terminals and Tiradentes Express will be from 6am to 10pm. The Jabaquara, Santana and SPTrans Posto Central stores will be closed and will return to normal service on Thursday, January 26th.

Saves time

The 12 units of Poupatempo in the capital of São Paulo will be closed and will return to normal operation on Thursday (26).

Education

Unified Educational Centers (CEUs) will be open from 8 am to 6 pm.

Sport

Sports Centers normally work at the usual holiday times for each equipment.

Parks

All urban and natural municipal parks will function normally. It is possible to see the opening hours of each unit in the site of the Green and Environment Secretariat (SVMA).

Cultural institutions in the city of São Paulo will have different opening hours during the holiday. Some will offer exhibitions, presentations, concerts, workshops, magic exhibitions, workshops.
