Released this Tuesday morning (16), a new directive from the Ministry of Health directs that the states reduce to 5 months the interval between the application of the second dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 and the booster dose of the immunizing agent.
The folder also increased the age group that should receive a new dose of the vaccine. Now, the entire population over 18 becomes eligible.
According to a survey carried out by CNN Brazil, two Brazilian states have already adhered to the two guidelines: Mato Grosso do Sul and Maranhão.
In São Paulo, precisely in the capital, the secretariat informs that the application of booster doses for people over 18 will start next Thursday (18th). Adults already vaccinated with the two doses of Coronavac, Astrazeneca and Pfizer vaccines for at least five months must attend.
Pará, on the other hand, appears as the only state that has increased the age group called to receive the third dose, but it still does not apply the reduction in the interval. “The Department also informs that it has enough doses to supply the municipalities to make the booster doses”, says the note.
Piauí and Goiás informed the CNN which already have a date to adhere to the new rules: respectively 22 and 18 November.
In Pernambuco, Amazonas, Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba, only the reduction of the interval between the second and third doses was applied immediately.
The survey also informs that the other 15 states, in addition to the Federal District, are waiting to receive new doses from the Ministry of Health or specific deliberations to respond on the matter.
