The last round of Serie A at Brasileirão, the championship that ended this Thursday (9), confirmed the drop to Serie B at Bahia and the third relegation in Grêmio’s history.
In this way, the names of the 60 clubs that will compete, in 2022, in the main series of the national football championship, are defined.
In addition to the downfall of Grêmio and Bahia, Sport and Chapecoense were also confirmed for next year’s second division.
In contrast, Botafogo, Goiás, Coritiba and Avaí ensured access to the elite and returned to Serie A in 2022.
The Serie C championship – the only one among the three divisions that is not played in straight points – will host Brasil de Pelotas, Confiança, Remo and Vitória, who were relegated from Serie B in 2021.
Serie D is still awaiting the definition of the Tocantinense Championship and the Maranhense Football Federation Cup to confirm the list of 64 teams that will compete in the national championship in 2022.
