See who are the biggest serial killers in Brazil

The serial killer Pedrinho Matador, was killed last Sunday morning (5), in Mogi das Cruzes, in Greater São Paulo. According to the Civil Police report, he would have been shot dead and, after falling, was beheaded with a kitchen knife.

Pedro Rodrigues Filho gained notoriety in the 1980s when he was sentenced to almost 300 years in prison – amended in 2019, the Brazilian Penal Code does not allow someone to serve a custodial sentence for more than 40 years – for killing dozens of people, in addition to other crimes, such as theft, according to an article in “O Estado de S.Paulo”, published in the August 26, 1986 edition.

His criminal record contains 71 crimes. However, he claimed to have killed over a hundred people.

According to the report, Pedro ran away from home, in Mogi das Cruzes, at the age of 9, and never stopped. The escape occurred because he could not stand his father, drunk, who attacked his mother.

“I was a tomboy, I worked with my grandfather, first crime, I threw a distant cousin in the cane grinder. He had punched me in the eye and kicked me because I borrowed his horse for a ride”, he said.

Pedrinho used to carry out robberies in the east zone and in the central region of the capital of São Paulo. At this time, he lived in hotels on the outskirts of Parque Dom Pedro II, in Sé.

The first deaths orchestrated by him would have occurred when he was only 11 years old. He executed drug dealer Jorge Galvão, his brother and brother-in-law, with a firearm. “They didn’t believe me, a thin boy, who could barely hold the automatic”, he told Estadão.

Term Serial Killer

The term serial killer was coined in the United States by retired FBI agent Robert Ressler.

A book by Ressler even inspired the television series Mindhunter, which shows FBI agents who seek to understand the minds of some of the most famous serial killers in the United States.
