Still according to firefighters, the helicopter hit a coconut tree before falling.
“There was room to make a forced landing. Probably, the pilot tried to take off from the main avenues, looking for an emergency field, but only the competent authorities will be able to say”, said Robson Bertoloto, director of Civil Defense of São Paulo, to CNN .
The subcommander of firefighters, Yuri Moraes, ruled out being overweight. “The helicopter fell apart,” he told CNN. “Excess weight was discarded, and there was no fuel leak, nor risk of explosion”.
The lawyer for Helimarte, the company that owns the aircraft, Sérgio Gegers, rejected the hypothesis that the accident occurred due to lack of fuel.
