This news was shared by Peter Murrieta, writer and showrunner of the comedy series that aired on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012, who, during an interview for the podcast Wizards of Waverly Podassured that the intention of the production was to show one of those characters as a bisexual person, but that perhaps it was something difficult to adapt due to the mentality that was had at that time.

According to Murrieta, despite the fact that the character played by Selena Gomez shows masculine interests throughout the three seasons of the program, by becoming romantically involved with two boys in the series, she also had some chemistry with Stevie Nichols, a teenager with whom establishes a friendship during the third season and that, as can be seen, it was too obvious that between them there was more than just a friendly relationship.

I wish we could have played more with what was pretty obvious to a lot of us, which was the relationship between Stevie and Alex. We couldn’t at the time, but it was pretty clear to all of us what that relationship was. Would have been fun.
