Sales of self-tests to detect the coronavirus start this Thursday (3) in the city of São Paulo. The product allows the person to carry out all the testing steps, from sample collection to result interpretation, without the need for professional assistance. For this, the instructions for use must be followed carefully.
The commercialization of Covid-19 self-tests in Brazil depends on the registration of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) which, so far, has already approved six tests. According to Anvisa, the self-test does not define a diagnosis, which must be performed by a health professional. The exam result should be used as a guide only.
Covid-19 self-tests begin to be sold in pharmacies in the city of São Paulo. According to the drugstore chain RaiaDrogasil, the product will be available for purchase at 350 points of the chain in the capital of São Paulo, for R$ 69.90. The forecast is that the network units in the interior of São Paulo and other states receive the product from this weekend in physical stores.
In pharmacies of the DPSP group, which brings together Drogarias Pacheco and Drogaria São Paulo, the self-tests will be available in physical stores from Friday (4).
The self-test is also available for online purchases by Droga Raia and Drogasil, across the country, with delivery times that vary according to the region.
The product available is the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) Autotest Antígeno, from the company CPMH, the first test approved by Anvisa, on February 17.
