Selic high: investment volume in fixed income rises again, association points out

A survey of CNN based on data from the Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Market Entities (Anbima), shows that, in June 2022, fixed income represented 61.3% of Brazilian investments.

The resumption of demand for fixed income this year is related to the high interest rate, the Selic, according to experts heard by the CNN . Last Wednesday (3), the Central Bank readjusted the indicator to 13.75% – the 12th consecutive increase.

According to the Association, it is the largest volume of capital in fixed income funds in the last four years. Within this type of investment, according to Anbima, the asset most sought after by Brazilians is savings, which attracts investments from at least 35% of the population. In the second position appears the social security, with 15%.

“Fixed-income securities take as a reference the basic interest rate of the economy, the Selic. And, as interest rates rise, the remuneration of these investments follows the variation – making it attractive for the investor”, highlights Ricardo Teixeira, Coordinator of the MBA in Financial Management at FGV.

THE CNN , the FGV specialist also projected the future of fixed income for the coming months of the year. According to him, the expectation is that the demand for the asset will continue to grow.

“It is very likely to see this number evolving until the end of the year, greatly impacted by possible new increases in the Selic rate. In addition, we also need to observe the reduction of the inflation index, which would make the bonds even more attractive in the coming months”, concluded Teixeira.
