Selton Mello pays tribute to Fernanda Torres: “She repeated her mother’s feat”

Selton Mello 52, honored Fernanda Torres 59, after the actress was nominated for the 2025 Oscar. In a post made on Instagram this Saturday (25), the actor reflected on how his work colleague and personal friend repeated his mother’s feat, Fernanda Montenegro who was nominated for the Best Actress award in 1999 at the same award for her role as Dora in “Central do Brasil”.

“My friend Nanda repeated her mother’s feat. These beautiful arrangements of life. I took these photos at the premiere in SP, a foreign land in the background. In both films, something in common: a deep study of our country, with its beauties and contradictions. Art as a tool for transformation. Cinema as a window to self-knowledge”, wrote the actor.

“We talk about our village and we are understood in the world. Reflecting on the past, we illuminate the present. These photos translate beautiful things, the overlapping culture reinventing itself, being reborn. Always and always”, he adds.
