The Senate plenary approved this Wednesday (6) a draft resolution that allows zeroing the Tax on Motor Vehicle Ownership (IPVA) for motorcycles up to 170 cc.
According to the proposal, the reduction to zero of the IPVA is not mandatory, but serves as a signal for states and the Federal District. The text goes on for promulgation.
According to the rapporteur, Mecias de Jesus (Republicans-RR), the objective of the project is to contribute to cheapening the low-capacity motorcycles that are acquired by the low-income population to provide their livelihood.
The rapporteur also said that there is no impediment in relation to fiscal responsibility, as the proposal has an authoritative nature and will not cause a waiver of revenue for the Union, as the IPVA is not a federal tax.
