The Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro estimates that around 100,000 workers were impacted by the storms. The Attorney General of Petrópolis, Miguel Luiz Barros spoke on the occasion about the interdictions and demolitions.
“Today there are more than 8 thousand requests for reports. A task force is being created in the Civil Defense to complete all these reports, not least because they are important for the construction of social rent. As soon as these objective criteria are met, we will move on to the demolition of properties in risk areas to actually prevent these people from returning to their homes.”
The committee is composed of seven members and two substitutes. The last meeting was virtual. A new meeting is planned. At the end the members will have a period of 30 days to present the final report. The February storm left 233 dead, three people are still missing.
