The Economic Affairs Commission (CAE) approved, this Tuesday (21), requests for an invitation to hear the ministers of the economy Paulo Guedes and of Mines and Energy Adolfo Sachsida, on the issue of fuel prices in Brazil, and the former -President of Petrobras José Mauro Coelho to talk about the management guidelines.
Initially, the request authored by Senator Alexandre Silveira (PSD-MG) was for Paulo Guedes to be summoned, but Senator Espiridiao Amin asked that it be converted into an invitation.
Silveira was annoyed and stressed that there are several invitations to the minister in the house and they did not have a date set or there was a change the day before, and that’s why he defended keeping the summons in parallel.
“I would like to register in a peremptory way that I will enter today with a second summons so that, in case Minister Guedes does not come as soon as possible, explain not only to us Senators, but explain in particular to the Brazilian people where we are going… I think there is no way to explain further, I think there is no justification for the attitudes and especially for the omissions in the economic policy that Minister Guedes implemented in this country”, added the Minas Gerais senator.
The request of the Minister of Mines and Energy was also a summons and was converted to an invitation after the consent of the author Senator Jean Paul Prates (PT-RN).
The purpose of the minister’s trip is to clarify the sectoral planning of fuel supply in Brazil and the measures envisioned by the government to guarantee this supply to the population.
At the same meeting, the invitation to former Petrobras president José Mauro Coelho to provide information on the guidelines received for Petrobras’ operations was approved, especially with regard to investments made and prices charged.
“It is important that Mr. Coelho clarify which mandate he received and which task he sought to perform, as well as the reasons why he believes this task was frustrated in just 40 days. It is important to clarify which conjuncture change made his appointment inappropriate in little more than a month”, justified the author of the request, Senator Jean Paul Prates.
There will also be a public hearing to discuss the policy for the supply and prices of natural gas sold by Petrobras. Meetings will still be scheduled with the authorities.
