Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Republican who advocates for consumer protection and privacy, said what she likes about Bitcoin.

At the Bitcoin Policy Summit, Marsha Blackburn said that as time goes on, people are becoming more comfortable with cryptocurrencies – more and more transactions are being made in everyday life where Bitcoin is accepted as payment for goods or services.

“There are many things that attract me to Bitcoin. First of all, it is freedom and privacy. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin means that the government does not interfere with the financial side of people's lives, and this is very important to them,” Blackburn said.

The senator cited Afghanistan as an example, saying that many residents of this country have less and less trust in government structures and state currencies. People want something that will be a good and reliable store of value. Therefore, Bitcoin is an excellent option for them, allowing them to control their funds. In addition, Bitcoin is easy to use, and this is another advantage.

Blackburn said one of the most pressing issues on Capitol Hill has been increasing fees for processing remittances and payment transactions. People are starting to realize how expensive credit cards cost them. This forces them to turn to Bitcoin, the senator added.

Recall that at the beginning of the year, Republican Arizona Senate member Wendy Rogers introduced a bill to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender in the state.
