In a debate held by CNN this Friday (24), the senators Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) and Marcos do Val (Podes-ES) comment on the feasibility of installing Parliamentary Committees of Inquiry (CPI) in an election year.
With the readjustment in the price of fuels announced by the Petrobras and with the corruption scandal in Ministry of Education parliamentarians articulate to collect enough signatures for the opening of two CPIs in the coming days.
for president of federal Senate , Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), the CPI investigations would be hampered due to the proximity of the election.
“Evidently, regarding the aspect of convenience and opportunity, without ignoring the importance of the CPI institute, in the pre-election moment and very close to the elections, this is in fact something that undermines the scope of a CPI, which is an impartial investigation. , which is the necessary time and the composition of it and of all the dedicated senators”, affirmed the senator.
Marcos do Val agrees with the president of the House. “I see out of time the opening of a CP in which part of the senators participate remotely when trying to reconcile with their pre-campaign. It will not be a detailed, well-done job, and we are going to run over the PF”, argues the Podemos parliamentarian, who emphasizes that it is necessary to trust the work of the Federal Police and the Federal Public Ministry.
Randolfe emphasizes that he has absolute confidence in the institutions, but he is concerned about the alleged “interference” reported by the PF. “Because they have so much trust, they need a CPI, which needs to help, provide the political backing for their work. I agree that if we had complete security and managed to guarantee that the work of these institutions would not be interfered with by anyone and that it would be exempt, we would not need any CPI”, he points out.
The Sustainability Network senator is in favor of opening the two commissions, but argues that, in the case of the Petrobras CPI, it is not necessarily necessary. “I will not be inconsistent in approving one and denying the other. The CPI of Petrobras, the President of the Republic could respond with a stroke of the pen, send an MP [medida provisória] on Petrobras’ profits and dividends, which are gigantic, and change the price parity policy”, he exemplifies.
Do Val stands firm. “I’m against both at the moment we are.”
