US senators from Arkansas have considered eight bills regarding restrictions on cryptocurrency mining. Two of them were adopted – they concern changes in the procedure for conducting operations for the extraction of virtual assets.

While none of the bills have yet been fully approved, they are expected to do so within a few months.

In addition, the senators discussed a number of issues related to the use of foreign software in the mining sector, the ownership of industry firms by citizens of other states, and the location of mining farms near residential areas.

Discussions between senators revolved around amendments to the law “On Data Processing Centers,” adopted in 2023. It is intended to establish operating rules for companies engaged in cryptocurrency mining in the region.

The document established principles for miners to protect them from discrimination and unnecessary taxes, and recognized the economic value of data centers. The new bills plan to bring companies involved in the extraction of cryptocurrencies under increased control.

Earlier, Fineqia International analyst Matteo Greco said that Bitcoin halving will have a positive impact on the environmental friendliness of mining.
