SEPEE: The sales and exports of clothes increased in the first 4 months of 2022

An increase was recorded in the retail sales and exports of the clothing-textile chain in the first four months of 2022, according to the data of SEPEE, although it should be noted that in the first four months of 2021 the stores remained closed for most of the time.

In particular, clothing retail sales increased by 60% to 688 million euros from 429 million euros in the first four months of 2021.

However, according to market information, the course of May was negatively affected by rising energy costs, accuracy and the war in Ukraine.

The start of exports was also positive with an increase of 18.7%.

The total value of exports of the clothing – textile chain in the first four months of 2022 amounted to 772 million euros compared to 650 million in 2021. Exports of clothing increased by 22.8%, textiles by 32%, while cotton increased by 5% .

There was also a large increase in imports, which for the whole chain increased by 45%. From 797 million euros in 2021 to 1,160 million euros in 2022. The increase in clothing imports reached 42%, while the textile industry reached 55%.
