Serbia – Kosovo: Vucic and Kurti accepted the Franco-German plan

Belgrade and Pristina accepted the European (Franco-German) plan to resolve the Kosovo issue at the talks held in Brussels under the auspices of the European Union. Its president Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in the meeting they had with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Policy, Josep Borel, and the Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, gave their consent to the implementation of the plan.

“The two sides agreed to proceed with the implementation of the European plan for the normalization of relations and in the next period they will be determined in detail, with the so-called “mediating diplomacy“(shuttle diplomacy), the next steps” announced Josep Borel at a press conference.

The EU foreign affairs spokesman said the European plan is now a public document and will soon be posted online, with Aleksandar Vucic and Albin Kurti saying there is a need to hold more meetings on the content of the plan.

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, in his statements, after the negotiations in Brussels, said that the next tripartite meeting (EU-Serbia-of Kosovo) will take place on March 18 in North Macedonia, during the visit of Josep Borel to this country.

Vutstis stated that he raised at the meeting, as a necessary condition for progress in the implementation of the European project, the full implementation of the Brussels agreement from 2013, which provides for the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities in Kosovo. “I don’t think Mr. Kurti is ready to accept that now, we will see for the future. I’m afraid we might get “stuck” on something that should have been fulfilled a long time agoVucic said.

The Serbian president appeared cautious regarding progress in the implementation of the European plan, estimating that “it will still take a long time” to reach any definitive agreement.
