Serbia does not intend to impose sanctions on Russia, said President Alexander Vuτςiτς, announcing at a press conference the conclusions of the National Security Council meeting that examined developments in Eastern Europe and determined Serbia’s position.
The text presented by Vuτςiτς does not condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Mild expressions are used in this paragraph, obviously so as not to offend Russia. “The Republic of Serbia supports the observance of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and considers it very wrong for Russia to disrupt its territorial integrity,” the text of the conclusions reads.
Asked by a journalist if he could use the word “condemn” for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Serbian president refused to do so and referred to the content of the text issued by the National Security Council.
One of the conclusions is also that “Serbia respects the territorial integrity of each country and believes that the change of borders can only be done in accordance with international law.”
